Hi,
Background on my boat: 1997 Chris Craft Ultra 21 with a volvo 5.7 GSi. I recently refinished my dash panels and put all the gauges back. I did each gauge individually and was extremely careful about the wiring order/connections. The gauges are Faria and original to the boat, and were working perfectly before. When the key is turned, my tach needle floats counter-clockwise to the 6000 spot and only bounces a little with the engine running no matter what RPM. Also, and I have no idea why, but with the key off and out of the ignition, tuning my navigation lights on activates everything the same as if I put the key in and turned the ignition to the "on" position. If I unplug the tach from the main harness, everything but the tach functions correctly and there are no issues with turning the nav lights on or off. If the engine is running and the nav lights are on with the tach plugged in, taking out the key does nothing...it will not kill the engine until I turn the nav lights off. I was very careful to make sure everything was re-assembled correctly and have been over everything several times. I have no idea what is going on, but it seems to be something related to the lighting system or a bad tach??? For now I just have the tach unplugged and everything runs and works fine. Thanks!!! Rob
