Re: Tach Pulse

Thats why I posted the picture so Bob can accurately identify what stator he has. Sometimes over the years, parts get switched as the boat goes from owner to owner, and you need to make sure what part you have on it.
I think you and I are the only ones having this conversation as I havent read a new post by Bob since July 27th.
Maybe he fixed it already.

Re: Tach Pulse

Wow, you guys are great! I've enjoyed all of the advice. I have positively id'd the stator as a 12 pole unit which does not have ignition pick-up coils. My tach does read 0 with the ignition on.

I'm not sure if I understand Boilermakers schematic right, but if his suggestion is what has happened to my rectifier what would the tach read? Mine seems to be reading about half speed for what my motor is running which seems to be consistent with what his schematic is saying.

Thanks

Re: Tach Pulse

Did you ever check to see if your boat was charging will running? It should be at least 13.0 volts or higher.
What brand of tach do you have? The best way to verify if the tach is reading correctly, is as Dhadley suggest, take it to boat shop and let them check it with a shop tach.
Incidently, I found this topic that may be of some help here. web page

Re: Tach Pulse

I have an OMC tach, but used from e-bay. I checked my rectifier this morning and it checks out correctly. I have not gotten the boat in the water lately so I'll have to check the voltage next time it's in the water. So far it still looks like the tach is what's broken.

Thanks.
