Tach question on 1973 TOP

Hey, got a question for you guys, should I be able to pull a tach signal off of either side of the stator (2 wire)? Or should just one side be sending a signal???? To be more clear, I tried both sides of the stator, and can get a signal IF I switch the rectifier leads. So only one side of the rectifier is allowing a tach signal. Is this normal????

It will read either side, check the wire at the tach for AC voltage if it has voltage there the tach s bad

It works......but only on one side of the RECTIFIER if I switch the rectifier leads around, it will work off of either side of the stator. Stator is brand new and working. Tach is brand new and working. Rectifier is my question. How can you tell if it is bad (or good)????

Sounds like the rectifier, here's the test.
