tach??

I have a 76 500 and got tach to work again (bad rectifier) . it is off by 500 rpm or so, seems to be reading too high. the tach is a aqua meter tach that reads to 6000 rpm, i believe from 76 also. i believe i have at least 6 wires on back of tach. is there a newer tach i can use with this type of wiring configuration?? it seems like the newer tachs have 3 wire hook up.

Most any aftermarket tach will work with that motor. Make sure the brown tach signal wire is on one of teh yellow AC wires of the rectifier. Check the tach manual for the correct tach setting. Usually it is 12P
