You need a tachometer that can be set to 6P on a dial on the back of the tachometer. They generally read to 7,000 RPM.

Never heard of an all purpose tach. Can you elaborate?

i found this website that is sell them and all it says is " we are selling a new outboard tachometer that reads up to 8,000 rpm. we do not know who the manufacturer is but this is universal tachometer can be installed on any 12-pole outboard application" can anyone help

BRP, Teleflex and Faria all make tachometers that have the correct 6P settings for your motor.

Ask the vendor for a picture of the back of the gauge so that you can see if it can be used.
