G'day

Would like to attach tacho to 1976 35hp Evinrude.

Anyone guide me to where I can connect my grey wire on the tacho to pick up tach signal from engine??

Manual mentions nothing.

Only wires coming from harness are:-

red - battery
white - start
purple - choke
blue and blue with a stripe - kill.

Right by ur start should be a terminal block. It's labled grey. Run a wire to it and route it free if anything hot or moving. That's what I did on my 75 115. I'm not quite sure on the smaller engines and how they are set up so if I am wrong a apologize.

Cheers honald112 - but - nothing of the sort there...

Anyone??

I remember with my old Torana - straight to the coil. Will have to have a play....

Wouldn't be in the harness, would come from under the cowl on the terminal block connecting to the rectifier. Typically its the gray wire but my wiring diagram shows yellow/blue instead of gray, maybe its a mistake or maybe it's actually gray. I show red, yellow, yellow gray and yellow blue. maybe someone else know if yellow/blue is the same hookup as gray back then.

Actually, you can connect it to yellow, or yellow/gray, or yellow blue. It is "supposed" to go to yellow/gray, but it really doesn't matter and the tach doesn't know the difference. Set your tach to 5 pulses (10 poles)
