Since it seems I'll never get a normal tach to work with my outboard I was going to purchase a TinyTach, but want to make sure it'll work. Their website only has one listed for gas engines so this will work correct?

Re: Tachometer again

You have to talk to them and find out. The reason is that CD ignition fires more sparks than points ignition and the tiny tach works off of spark impluses. You need to tell them what you are using it on to see if it will work.

I think mine is actually older than CD ignition, someone told me its alternator with battery.

Then it would have to be a points condenser system which is easier to find tiny tachs for as they only spark once per cylinder.

Looking at the adjustment range, it will definitely work for your engine. Look on ebay, I found a few there at reasonable prices. Just make sure they are the adjustable version.

Yes they have one for your motor. Just tell them what it is going on because sometimes they add a filter on it to work right. Also dont buy one off ebay. They run off some sort of batt that cant be replaced and the life of the unit is several years. If you buy a used one you really dont know how long it will last.
