Tachometer backlight

I just got finished installing LED bulbs in all my instruments EXCEPT my tachometer. Boat is a 1996 Four Winns Horizon. I've attached a pic of the back of the tach. On all my other gauges there was a little hole with a bulb holder that I could simply swap out the bulb, but the tech appears to be sealed so no easy bulb swap. Two questions: 1) Anyone know if/how to crack the tach open? 2) What kind of bulb/socket does the tach have?

Pull it apart and look? Worst case you buy a new tach

I’m just trying to tap into the knowledge base before I head down that path and waste time that I don’t have. It looks like a sealed unit, so I’m trying to find out how if it can even be taken apart. It works fine, so no sense in screwing it up over a light bulb.

There is. It just doesn’t work anymore.

There is a light in there, but it’s burned out. That’s why I want to change it. It just appears to be a sealed plastic round thing. It works except the light so I figured easy swap like EVERY OTHER GUAGE, but noooo. The tach is totally different from every other gauge so here I am. It’s fine if the hive doesn’t know, just wanted to ask before diving in deep.

i would bet that if you take all nuts off the studs on the back the tach would come out of that housing from the front.

Thanks. That’s kinda what I was hoping. I guess I’ll just have to dig in and find out.

Is the tach the big gauge, with the huge hole top center,..??..??
If so, the bulb holder is missing,....

Yep...where that black plug is.....should be your bulb, or where the bulb should be ..
