I recently bought a generic universal 12 pole tach. It has negative, positive and a pulse connection. After I hooked them up, when I turn the key to the ON position, the tach redlines. I did not even turn over the engine. I tried to start and no change. I hooked up the pulse to the AC at rectifier, the negative to ground and positive to a fused terminal board. Maybe it is just the tach is not compatible.(So much for universal) Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Tachometer issues

sorry to tell ya this but if you bought anything less than a 20 pole tach (if you have a force motor) you need to return it and get ur money back. you will need a 20 pole tach
