I have began to notice that tachometer seems evil haha, my motor will run fine but the guage seems to act on its own and jump all around in rpm's......is this a guage issue or the line issue? any suggestions??

Ohhhh and judging from other post....its recommended to remove the hydrofoil on the engine?? I do not have smart tabs or trim tabs...so is it still recommended?

Re: Tachometer Question

ya could try cleaning the connections for the tach. or maybe hook up a shop tach and see if it does the same thing....

as for the whale tail, i don't have one, nor tabs, smart or otherwise. i'd still remove it as i feel they put an undo amount of stress on the drive. i did have a whale tail on my last boat. what it did for me was fracture my ventilation plate when i hit something on the river...... after removal, the boat still worked fine. i don't know why the previous owner (my dad) had put it on. i think because we were into waterskiing. there were no smart tabs back in the 70's when he put it on and real tabs were cost prohibitive......
