Tachometer Question

I have a 1989 Mercury 80HP 3 CYL motor and I want to put a Tach on it. Is there any special Tach that I need. My contryl has a pigtail coming off of it. Thanks

Pretty much any current marine tach (30years old or newer) will work. The tach should have a selector knob/dial on the back to select specific input types (2 cyl, 4 cyl, 6 cyl 12 pole).

Automotive tachs will not work with marine outboards.

I seen alot of adds that state 2,4,6 cyl but this is a 3 cyl. Or do you select 12pole? Sorry for the dumb questions.
