Re: Tachometer recycling/re-setting
1800 hrs update; Decided to do a full inspection of all wires and ground connections, After digging, probbing and following cables to their terminals I found two loose ground wires that were bolted trhu the starter housing ending at the engine block. This side of the starter has a plastic shield to protect the 20 amp relay and part of the wiring harness. (The loose bolt and ground wires were located behind the shield and part of the wiring harness) The bolt was not totally loose however there was enough play for the wires to move around. One of the two ground cables was directly connected to the eight (8) wire terminal that houses all the wires coming from the reg/rec. I would have to think that engine vibration plus boat movements at 30 + mph (4,500 rpm`s) were causing the cables to shift shorting the circuit and making the tachometer lights recycle and flash intermittently. Hopefully I would be able to validate this theory tommorow and eliminate the reg/rec as the culprit.
