ok so im told that the 3 wire plug on the remote is a adapter to setup a tachometer for diags.. now i havent found a way to tie into this like a the other half of the plug or what not. and would a simple car tach work from sunpro just to get my idle set or marine tachs different?

Yes, the 3 wire plug on the remote is usually for a tach. No, a car tach will not work. What motor have you got?

Marine tach (or more specifically, 2 stroke tachs) are different to 4 stroke car tachs.

For just diagnostic purposes, you can use an inductive (clamp-on) style tachometer if you've got one. Some (if not all) can be used on two-strokes if I am not mistaken. This just picks up the signal from a sparkplug wire like a timing light.

For something more permanent, as Dunaruna said, you need a marine tach for the two-stroke capabilities (and 'wet' application).
