Hi,

I bought a Mercury 50hp 1979, can i connect a tachometer for this motor? The connection is on the Mercontrol and the wires seems to be connect to the stator.

Thanks

Re: Tachometer

Yup its a 3 female prong connection on the MerControl. 1 wire is the tach signal 1 wire is the 12V positive and 1 wire is the ground. If I remember correctly it is brown=tach signal white=positive and black=negative

Re: Tachometer

When shopping for a tach, make sure you get one compatible with an outboard motor.

An automotive tach will not work with an outboard.
