I have a 1986 70hp Tohatsu, came on a used boat I purchased. Seems like a well built, rugged engine, runs great. I've heard that Nissan builds Tohatsu engines. Very few dealers here in the Northeast but there may be more in your area.

Phil

First, think parts and service.
Some Nissan/Tohatsu's two-strokes are loud, light, fast and thirsty. They haven't been hightec but they are less expensive than Yamaha and Suzuki.
Are you looking for a new four-stroke? I don't know about them. If it is a single cylinder it think the vibrates more than a twin cylinder. Maybe more than you want.
/Bear

My brother has a Nissan 5HP 2 stroke.
He has used it two summers now and it runs great. Never had any problems with it.
I have a Nissan 9.9 four stroke model.
Runs good also. If your looking for a good outboard. I don't think you will go wrong with Nissan.

Thanks guys! I guess I should have said it was a 6HP 4-stroke I'm considering. I too have discovered they're made by the same company.
