Always a concern of mine. I just can't imagine falling head first into right where I been wizzin'; therefor, safety precautions must be taken. Even if it mean leaving a few drops on the deck. :D

Didn't realize so many whizzed in the lake! I believed the reports that Raystown Lake was pure enough to drink. Now that all you have talked about whizzin' in the water, I am going to think again before I take my cup and dip it in the lake for a drink! :p

Re: taking a leak overboard

about twenty years ago i was recycling the half dozen beers i had drank over the side of a 17 foot whaler when my foot slipped and i pitched head first over the side. luckily i had the rail in a death grip. very lucky, because the whaler was cruising at 30 mph at the time. hung there a second body surfing, then kicked with both legs and flipped back into the boat. put everything in order and went forward and sat by the operator. he said "how did you get so wet?". i don't drink anymore. that 45 degree water sobers a person up real quick.

it happens so easily-you're hang over the side, the boat pitches and that's it- overboard. It might not be the macho thing to bucket and chuckit but believe me, all joking aside, it saves lives.

i've been chuklin through this whole thread.i guess i better tell on myself before everyone thinks im perfect.(yea right)dont carry a bucket.hanger over the side and letter go.ive been known to soak the the trim motor a few times.as well as the motor itself and the deck.its just so hard to stand when the waves are bouncing you around.havent been dunked yet but waiting.water is normally warmer here though and i always ware a PFD.hehe think its rough from a boat you should try hanggin it off the back end of a moving jeep or a pickup.now that is some fun.just watch out for low hanggin limbs.lol

I should point out that urine is sterile. It is actually quite safe to drink.
It is prohibited to urinate in the lake at Yellowstone Lake and Lewis lake, also in Yellowstone National Park.

if it is prohibeted to take a leak in the lake- does that also apply to geese and ducks too? Some of these ''laws'' make me chuckle.
It reminds me of a few years ago when they made the Seattle ferry install holding tanks so they wouldn't dump raw sewage in the strait- cost them several million dollars.Once the refit was done, they now pumped it into the city sewer- and you guessed it- the city pumps the sewage right out into the straits!

Re: taking a leak overboard

I had a friend that was taking a leak off the dock one night. He was a few sheets to the wind when over he goes into the cold water. The next morning we woke up and there was a thin sheet of ice on the water. Good thing he had so many beers so it didn't feel as cold.

You people live in too cold climate. Where I'm at you can just jump in with an inverted vest like a diaper. Drink and **** simultaneously.

Washing my hands after catching a fish and I made the comment that the water felt very warm for a winters night. After the laughter started I looked around to see my brother-in-law relieving himself a few feet away upstream from me.
They had a good laugh, I cleaned my hands again later and the fish went into his fish bin not mine!
Ross
