You maybe have a torn boot ? On the out drive. Coming in thru to the inside via the gimbal bearing or shift cable boot ?

I'm afraid ya got to yank the drive. And check it out ?

Got a manual ?

If it's not coming from around the exhaust connection itself, then the only place I can think of right off that would cause a stream of water is the trim sender hole in the transom, that portion of your exhaust would be flooded with water at all times you know, leaking u-joint bellows or not.

Re: taking on stream of water

My friend had water p--ing on the motor we found the water was coming up the cable.

When was the last time this 22 year old boat had the boots changed ? If ever.

When you get around to it and yank the drive i hope it didn't drop, and causing the water as you suspect coming in thru a bolt hole.

Than you got problems with a bad transom.

And turning the nut tighter is not gonna fix that.

Pray it's the boots.

Try running your engine on muffs, if it doesn't leak, then you need to pull the drive and have a look. Oh wait a minute you say it leaks even without engine running...your looking at pulling the drive at the least! But then again there is that pesky flapper valve, it's secured with a drift pin through the exhaust tube housing, but thats a long shot.

I'm not exactly sure of what you are referring to, could you possibly post a picture of where your leak is.

im knew so bare with me i could certainly try posting picture, the transom is in excellent shape the boat has been dry stored since new the bellows were replaced two years ago max from the outside they look great i was thinking on shooting some silicone in the hole where the shifter cable goes and see if that helps

Read what it says on the bottom of Dons posts. And if you use this boat in saltwater your gonna have even bigger problems and in real short order.
