Bought a 2000 Sport Craft IB this weekend. Has 4 through hull fittings: 2 live wells, eng cooling, head, and the shaft coming in. Boat is taking o water somewhere. I did a quick check but saw no leaks. Is there a method for checking these out of the water, ie water hose or is the only way when it's in the water? The only one I can't really see is the one to the head. Looking for suggestions to find the water. Thanks, JEC

Re: Taking on water

you can turn a hose into the bilge and look for leaks. is it an inboard, or an inboard outboard. if inboard outboard, i would look at the rubber bellows. also an area of leaks that most over look is, the connection between the upper and lower hull, under the rub rail. that's where mine was. when getting out of the hole and slowing down water gets push up to the joint and was coming in.

Thanks, this one is an inboard. What do you mean by putting a hose into the bilge? Can I check the through hulls some way when out of the water?

yeah, put water in the boat. if the thru hulls are leaking at the hull, the water will leak out. if they are leaking at connections with hoses it won't show.
