taking on water???

i have a 19' flats boat and have a problem with the rear of the boat taking on water over the transom and washing the deck while stopped. The boat has a 150hp on it but it still should not take water in on a lite chop i would think I have looked at the foam and it does not seem water logged even so there is not enuff foam to really hold that much water. I guess what I would like to know is there any thing i can do to get it to float a little shallower any ideas would help.

sounds like you are tail heavy, point bow into the waves.

You would have to change the displacement of the hull. I have spent time searching here.... (w/o any luck) there is a project where an iboats member made extensions for both sides of the stern. If I remember right it was to give more support to the stern.

The other option is to shield the splashwell so it is not over-run with water.

Can you adjust any of your gear? Perhaps you have too much gear stowed too far aft or too much gear period.

How can you lighten up the load?

is the pump working overtime?

Have you a bilge full of water?

i had the foam checked and it was ok the shop thinks it is just the way the boat is built with the live wells and all the batts in the back with the motor its just to much weight for the hull styling they told me to get a smaller motor or just only go in calm water someone told me about putting a basketball in the jack plate has anyone tried it and does it work

+1 re-arrange the load. Can you figure out a spot up front for the batteries?

Are you by chance running a 4 stroke which are heavier?

sounds like you aer overpowered; also ditto the comment on 4 strokes. Check your specs from the boat manufacturer, and your hull plate.

is only a two stroke but it is the max rated hp for the boat i am thinking about down grading to a 115 but dont want to lose my hole shot and it is a very heavy boat any sugestions
