taking on water

Hello, My 2020 key west walkaround has self bailing **** pit.
When in reverse the boat takes on water thru the drain holes, put it in forward the pit will drain.
this dont seem like a normal thing to happen?
any help Please!

Don't go in reverse . . . and if you do, only for a little bit.

your bailer valves might be a bit tired as they should close when water tries to enter the boat.

Yes, you need some sort of valve added to your scupper that prevents backflow from the sea.

There are door type flappers and even ping pong ball looking setups.

The ping pong ball setup can foul and clog. The flaps are the best solution.
