If the hull, deck and transom is solid and you have a donor boat for the powertrain, then it might be worth it. The big bucks do not come from the engine or even the outdrive, rather all the other little stuff, like manifolds, transom gimble housing, etc. If you don't have these, then run.​

Great deal for someone who has donor parts already, in my opinion. I also agree that $4k- $5K is a pretty high estimate, unless you're talking all brand new, brand name, install out of the box, engine to outdrive.
A good mechanic, who takes his time, finds some good used parts and does all the work, could easily do it for $1500. But, it would take some skills and some doing.

I agree, you could easily find a donor engine/drive or donor boat for that amount of cash. Thats saying there is no rotten wood anywhere.
Usually the trailer is the only thing worth anything on boats like that.
I don't see any reason why this would be considered a good find.
