The one in the pictures above looks like the newer style Delco alternator.

Yeah, you have the black on the wrong terminal. Don't forget, your alternator is upside down from the picture, you have the black wire on B+ and it should be on B-.

I think your viewing a pic of when I first posted with all the automotive parts because that IS a spitting image a the Delco alternator that had pigtail connection.

On the ground screw of the alternator is where the black goes? Then that tan (faded orange) may go where the black is now..on the B+ output.

Re: Tan wire running under the alternator?

let me check on a harness, personally I would just cut everything and use a harness configured for the GM motor.
will send a message.

Look this picture, also need to trace out the purple and red purple wires to make sure what they are, and replace them with something less taped together and the proper color.

I would just make my own harness with the properly color coded wires. Lot cheaper that way. You are also going to be changing ignition systems, so other things will be changing as well.

Will do. Thanks! By the way, what program/software did you use to modify the pic with text and arrow images?

Personally, I use Photoshop, but that's a lot of overkill for some text and arrows. A free program that comes on about all Windows machines called Microsoft paint will work just fine, Just not as fancy, but it gets the point across quite nicely.

Here is the picture with the free Microsoft Paint program (haven't used it in years, but still works), just not as fancy.

Without a doubt, I am 100% going to do this. I'm not anal, just like things done properly. Thanks, FBT for the reassurance!!!
