Hello everybody!

my tanka 300 ran just fine until it was dropped, causing a crack in the carburetor and the fuel tank.

I replaced both, as well as the peacock switch.

Now I have difficulty tuning the new carburetor. The way it is right now, it starts very hard and runs only with the choke on, at an average RPM (I can't reduce the RPM to idle and I can't get full throttle also, or it will choke).

What is the standard procedure to tune the new carburetor? I see it has only one screw with a spring on it. Other than that - is there something of special interest when replacing a carburetor?

Thanks!

Not much to "tune" on that carb...idle screw just holds carb slide up enough for idle. The carb needle has some grooves and a clip to adjust amount of gas passing through that main jet...middle position should be about right. Check to be sure there's no restriction in the fuel lines, petcock, tank vent open. Check your float needle valve for free operation. Good Luck!:)

If I open the screw under the carb (red square), fuel will start flowing, and that means there is no restriction on the fuel line.

But I don't know where to find the carb needle. Should I open the lower portion of the carb (blue square) to find it?

Loosen the slot head screw that clamps the carb onto motor, slide carb back off motor, unscrew top cap from carb, slide is under there, needle is inside the slide....study it a bit and it's super simple...very easy to work on. The blue area you showed is the carb float chamber and the float and float needle is inside(just like inside the back of a toilet), lets the gas in to a certain level, then the float rises and that needle closes the flow. Just look it over real good and it's very simple once you learn it!:)
