Tanaka tob 175 gear gasket

Just purchased gamefisher tanaka 1.75 TOB175. Changed the gear oil and noticed the gasket is ripped off for about 1/3 of gasket. It appears I am getting seepage after refilling and closing up. Gasket is discontinude. My options are cut my own from gasket material or use silicone rubber gasket material like Permatex. Does anyone have a recommendation? If silicone rubber gasket material, a specific brand?

I've had a Tanaka 3HP for over 25 years and quit using those gaskets a Long time ago...just clean the surfaces and run a small bead of silicone rubber gasket maker around the circumference and bolt her together...works fine for me and no real problem removing the cover next time...just pry it apart carefully with a tool...
