If anyone is looking to do Tarpon fishing in Florida now is the time to be thinking of booking a trip.

Ask Capt. Sam on this site, he may be able to point you in the right direction to hook up with a charter captain. He gave me some good info and I contacted a couple of people and they put me in touch with a fella and I had a great time at the beginning of May last year near Ft. Myers and the launch was just before the Sannibel Island bridge.

Last year was my first time fishing for Tarpon & was great, had six hookups and brought one to the boat a 125 pounder. I did a day trip but I would reccomend a half day morning trip, after about 10:00AM the action stopped and the rest of the day was hot. Off of Sannibel is not as crowded as Boga Grande.

Make sure you tell the guide you call that you want to do ocean fishing, not mangrove fishing.

Good head's up Fly Rod, they are already showing up in the last week or so. I've caught two since monday both around 60lbs, the bigger ones will be here in a month or so. If you've never done it, you're missing out.

I love fishing for Tarpon. My favorite spot is under the bridges around the middle Keys.

Caught two more today, they seem to be here a little early and hungry. The last one I caught was in front of a waterfront restaurant, gave the tourists a nice show...lol.

Yeah I've been a little giddy lately because this winter was so bad for fishing, the worse I've ever seen. The smaller tarpon tend to jump alot more and can be pretty acrobatic, people who have never seen it are pretty wowed by it.
