TB4 Thunderbolt IV TB IV. . . Where is the Ignition Module supposed to go?

The previous owner had the IM screwed to the carb filter wing nut. In one of my past posts someone here saw a picture of it there and told me it was supposed to be bolted to one of the exhaust risers.

Does anyone here have a picture or can describe to me where and how this is supposed to go on the riser?

Thanks
David

The mounting of the TB-4 module is not a big deal, and where it is located now is fine. It could be mounted to the exhaust if there is bosses to screw into, but the module will stay cooler where it is.

Now as for the numbers you have in your pic, sure hope that isn't what you thing of as the firing order. The V8 has odd numbers (1-3-5-8) on the port side, and even numbers on the starboard. Firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and distributer rotates clockwise

No Title

The Firing order has been corrected. Sorry that was an old picture. The reason for this post is because I got a hole in my intake and had to replace it. For some reason it makes the carb higher and I can no longer mount it here like you see in the old picture. So I was curious and couldn't find a single picture on the internet or illustration. In the previous picture the IM went bad all of a sudden it quit sending 12v to the Dis. It was a V8 - 24S. The used one we replaced it with is a V8-22A. They said on a boat this old the difference in advancement wouldn't change anything. I don't know about that. I have not been able to get this motor running since 13th of July this year when it died on the water.

WOW I just noticed from before and after pics I got my hoses hooked up wrong for the raw water cooling.

In the long run, a slight bit less advance is better then to have a bit more, detonation and all that. The 24 degree advance should be fine with your engine. So far as mounting, find a thin metal plate of heavy plumbers strapping and put one end under a blot on the engine. Then just mount the module to the other end. Below is a service bulletin from Merc .

As in both, the motor will turn over but the current starter out of the blue will not stay engaged for more than a few seconds. I think the bendix is shot in it so I ordered a new one that will be here tomorrow.

New intake and Starboard Exhaust all new lifters, springs and rockers.

Since the intake went, it has not ran.
