Yeah the props are frozen or what is left of them but i was thinking the same thing. One guy who had looked at the motor said I should use it as a mooring anchor in some bay or lake.

I'm looking in to Uship to move my boat/trailer on a flatbed it may save me some headache has anyone used Uship before? Or does anybody know a good company here in northern ca. that could move my boat/trailer on a flat bed. from Fort bragg ca. to Stirling City Ca about 200 miles for a decent price I have a budget of about $500

Uship to expensive for flatbed transport i will have to do it the old fashion way bring a welder and beef everything up put the new trailer tires i got and wish for the best. It would be nice to have that third axle though. I pick up the new lugs for the one that were missing.

Hey GWPSR so your stringers are wood with fiberglass over them. There made for the wood to rot out? and they still are structurally sound? I was going back over your thread to see what I am in for. Also How much did you pay for your boat, just curious? With all the work you doing

Every piece of wood below the sole was rotten to one extent or another, as were large sections of the sole itself. They were sound enough to stay on the trailer, but since I never had it in the water, I don't know whether it was scary or not. I presume it just sat low in the water due to the extra weight of the soggy foam and wood.

I paid more than I would have offered if I had known then what I know now, but with a 36' trailer and what appears to be a solid outdrive, plus a valid title for both boat and trailer, I can convince myself I still did OK. You got a much more screaming deal on yours than I did.

Fair enough, What is the sole?, the floor of the boat. My boat was in the water It did not seem low I'm hoping that I may not have to do as much work but I do know that I want it safe.Who knows maybe in the 70ies they made the Vics just a bit better. Well, I know I will be showing every step I take, and asking more stupid questions along the way. Thanks GWPSR

The sole is the floor of the cabin belowdeck. Mine, I've become convinced, is a victim of dumb***** syndrome. The PO added a thru-hull with a 1" i.d. to the side of the head, and connected it to what was supposed to have been a portable toilet. Not a very ethical or smart thing to do. The hose apparently came off the side of the porta-potty at some point, and the seacock was left open, I suspect flooding the boat. Combine those tragic mistakes with simple neglect, and cancer results.

Yes, you may be considerably luckier than I was, and I hope you are. We're both going to end up with battleships when done though. And besides, I really like the squarer lines of the earlier Bayliners to the rounded tailed models now. They look more, well .... serious.

Just the normal unwaxed laminating Polyester Resin.

Wow, I just read the first and last page of Gwpsr's thread. I am impressed with his commitment and ability. Hey Tboner I have a 78 sunbridge myself and I am thinking about cutting her loose. I bought it to live on when working out of town which worked out well but have been home over a year now and rarely take her out. I have not posted her yet but probably will next weekend when I am done prepping her for the summer. We are nearly 600 miles apart but if you are not as committed to a full resto as Gwpsr is, my boat is running with no rot and about an honest 80% perfect. You may come out money ahead and for sure time ahead. I have the twin mercruiser 470 engines and a "trailer". I am probably going to rent a slip next weekend for the month so I can show it and easily take it for sea trials. I have less than 40 hours on the rebuilt out drives and exhaust elbow risers. Both engines run good. I have the frames for the full canvas but not the fabric. I understand if you want to stick out your project but if you are interested let me know and I can give you all the details. I am in San Diego, Ca.
