Wow what a coincidence. I had taken some more pictures of the inside



So far no real bad damage. But the bathroom has a drain that goes right to the bilge and there is still water in there, the bilge does not work. I have to figure out how to get that water out maybe a shop vac. the engine compartment totally dry??? I don't get it. where I have removed carpet from the wall there is a black coating of some kind. I cant wait to get the floor up. where should I start first GWPSR? once I remove the galley and the bathroom

That looks like a pretty good deal for 600 you could use a lot of the parts from you motor the harmonic balancer distributor manifolds etc.
I offered my friend a 70ies sundance ski boat I bought from my brother that I never should have, he talked me into it, now it sits in my yard.

My friend just has to talk the wife into it Hopefully

That small sump area is a really bad idea, isn't it? I won't be doing that again. If I even put a shower back in the head, it'd drain to an enclosed tank rather than a sump under the floor.

I used a shop vac. Over, and over, and over. That's how I knew my foam was saturated. I would come back every day and suck up another gallon.

I removed the galley and right away I saw rotted stringers now that I have a respirator I can really get down to business definitely alot of WTF's and the PO or POs really sucked at taking care of this boat. The Ideas I got as I was removing the crap were enlightening and gave me some gusto for my resto. What are some good grinding disks for fiberglass? GWPSR should I build added supports under the chines before I go any further? So far I have removed the couch area, the galley and the wall with the wine cellar by the front berth Starboard side per picture above. I have not removed any floor yet

You have a bit of a quandary -- your boat spent a long, long time in storage in the marina, and like mine is likely quite soggy inside. Probably ought to take a straight edge and spend some time laying under the boat and examining whether the hull seems to be free of "waves" or other deformities. The good news is, our boats have a really thick skin, so any warping ought to be over a fairly large area and minimal.

At this point, it hurts nothing to add a little support between the strakes and keel as long as you don't try to move the hull yet. I have one place under the fuel tank that I got a little overzealous on, or the boat was warped a tad, because one small area is about 3/8" pushed in further than it should only on the port side, midway between keel and chine . I have to adjust my support under that area before I bed the stringers that go under the tank.

You've begun a smelly and sweaty journey. It can be strangely gratifying work though, to cut out the cancer that was trying to kill your boat. Good luck!

Yeah I still need to pressure wash the outside of the boat and below the water line. I got a little excited to start ripping everything out. But I did score

Well it actually has never been started. Right now it is in a 1978 gmc motor home that was in a fire. The PO has purchased the motor/Trans from Napa Auto just finished wiring it in had it parked next to a shop and some kids lit the shop on fire it caught the rear of the motor home on fire they put out the fire before it reached the cab. My friend bought it from the PO and was going to part out the motor and trans. The oil in this motor is honey but it has been sitting for a while so i will have to take some of it apart carburetor,intake, Exhaust manifolds etc. remove all the pumps power steering ,A/C. As far as I know it is brand new

Just looking around online and found some stuff called Seacast for making stringers it is pourable and bonds to fiberglass well stronger than marine plywood is this worth looking into?

You build forms and just pour this stuff in and it will never rot

Yeah it works Great! But... It's pricey and if you do your stringers with wood, encapsulate them properly with resin and glass, maintain the boat properly, keeping it covered and don't drill into the deck unless always predrilling and coating with proper sealants then the wood stringers will last 30-40 + years. Probably longer than you'll have the boat. I'd save my money for Gas to spend more time on the water.

The other day I kicked my prop and it moved the back prop was partially broke and came off with no problem. and then i moved the prop and it began to spin woo hoo! I might be able to save the outdrive. I have the Volvo dual prop I need to start the removal of the engine and out drive can anybody tell me where to start first?

HELP!!! My bayliner was sitting in the ocean for a while I have been pressure washing for the last two days and I can not get the bottom clean. What is the best way to remove the grime/sludge/barnacles off the bottom of the boat? Is there something that I can spray on let sit then use my pressure washer to clean off?

Unfortunately, with barnacles, scraping with a putty knife, then sanding the base, will end up being the method. You could probably spray some caustic liquid to help remove the sludge, but your probably better off scraping off the barnacles, and dried sludge with a knife, then sanding smooth and reapplying the antifoul.

Another option is blasting with walnut shells or the like.

BTW, i noticed we started our build threads on the same date, we will be alumni..:thumb:

I've started to clean the outside of the boat

Here is what outdrive I have much different when cleaned up. Can anybody tell me what it is? It says DP Trim on it and the volvo emblem which I blew off with my pressure washer

I think the boat was brown at one time
