There are some small cracks in the teak cover boards on the Chris Craft I am restoring and I am thinking about saving the sanding dust from the boards and mixing it with clear epoxy resin to fill the cracks. Has anyone tried this or have a better suggestion.

The epoxy will yellow out in time. There are some wood putties out that are able to match teak. How big are the cracks?Try home depot or a good hardware store.

If the cracks are tiny you don't even need to use the sawdust. If the cracks are large you can glue with epoxy and clamp the cracks closed. If the cracks are large and on the ends you can epoxy then clamp and drill&dowell. I have used all these methods at times. Chief ;)

Re: Teak filler

I have always saved my saw and sanding dust from teak and used it for many years to make filler. I haven't had any problems yet...

Re: Teak filler

You can use epoxy mix with the sawdust for filler just fine, make it as thick as is workable. Use as fine a dust as you can make. Mix the sawdust with the part A and let it saturate good, then catalyze and fill, sand excess. Chief ;)
