The local service center is trying to tell me that the replacement stator is good despite it not putting out minimum spec voltages.
Should I insist that they get me a stator that puts out the minimum voltages as per Johnson specs.
The stator on my 96 9.9 went bad and I got a replacement which was producing voltages as if it were a 1997. Johnson told me to take it to a service center to check out the new stator since the stator was less than a year old and under warranty.
This 1996 stator should put out 100 V on the power coil and 300 V on the Ignition charge coil.
For 1997 models the voltages are 70 and 200,
96's and 97's have the same resistance specs.
The replacement stator puts out 250 V on the ignition charge coil and the mechanic insists that this is correct. He does not seem to be doing any of the other tests except for resistance.
I think that BRP is shipping out stators with the wrong number of windings.
Any comments would be helpful.
The power pack may also be dead. There is no spark, 96's have an optical ignition timing system built into the power pack.
I don't want to put a new power pack on and feed it out of specs power.
