The 9.9 I bought and pickup today is a pig for weight compaired to my 15hp, every thing seems extra heavy duty....what gives with that?

got to go down to the LBL....got to watch it down there john Law will try and blind you with his badge so he can get you on a DWO, outboard on board

Well apparently, it's a 1973 - did Eska do it different then than later? Maybe your running gear is still not quite up to speed, and it just feels heavy? I don't know what an LBL is, but if you can get cited for driving with an outboard, that seems pretty harsh.

Oh come on its the LBL http://www.lbl.org/ nearest thing to heaven you will find in the USA if you like BIG crappie and Bass, you might be right about my running gear but I swear the castings at the foot looked thicker and even being a bit of a gimp latley I could tell...WoW what a load.

when I cut the skeg from a 7.5 d, luxe I noticed right away I had a lot of grinding to do to mate it to the 15.....I have seen all kinds of inconsistency's in the big Eskas.

The guy I got this engine from had no less than about 100 antique and to my great joy a Bear cat 85 hanging the all proud....I ask about selling it and he ask me what I owed on my house....lol....as if I would need a morgage, he says his might be the last complete unbusted engine left, I did get some education on the bearcat 85, I think his dad bought it new run it twice and had carb problems, Jon pointed out to me that the engine was about 8 months short of finial development when bear cat released it to racers....if the had not gone under we would all be boating on the cheap

Oh yeas what I meant about John Law....I stoped at a bait shop and a guy comes in and says theres a dear over hear with a arrow shot right into his eye...sure enough we watch a feeder for about 1/2 hr...and here he comes...KY dept of fish and game were on the seen but would not finish the animal or issue a permit to use a rifle to finish the animal....oh and the arrrow prevented the dear from really making good use of the feeder, Now I'm justa Illinois boy way down in Kentuc....I takes out my cell phone and ask a" anybody got the number for PITA?" thats when he wanted to look my truck over and question me about my Esky. EDIT

I stumbled out to the test stand today,flwheel design is dif on the ole 9.9 and looks heaver and the stator has a four coil pickup system....theres a fair anount if grease covered bt dust that might make some weight dif...can't remember were I left my damn camera but I'm looking every day....looking takes longer now???

I'm slowly getting my tick back but I feel starngly older ....just need the to get stable so I dont' fall over so much....LOL doc says Sea legs buy spring...oh joy

JB, excuse me, I should have done my bashing with KYDNR....I had forgot but I now remember what I said but it was OK with me...., if you had been there and seen it yourself I'm almost 100% sure it would have been OK with you.
I think my mistake is having posted the experience here in the first place, but you fine bunch of rumpot deckhands have come to be like family to me, and something you see and feel like that experiance you just have to get off you chest to your friends,

Maybe I shoulda just turned off the computer and wandered away, but that story just flashed me right into the red zone. It seems like Eska made several changes to the twins between '73 and '74, huh? Do the mounting holes in the stator have a different center distance? Are they still 180 degrees away from each other? I'm just wondering if that's going to complicate a test bed design. Two spindles seems feasible, but three might be a bit much.

I have not pulled the flywheel yet on the 73, I need jst a few more weeks of PT and I should be close to going again....LOL...I walk to the shed and I'm broke, worthless, almost to weak to use this keyboard...need ice and pillows...:)

chances are you would be going to bed at 8pm and getting up at 11:30pm hoping Dr. Zombos magic elxer will work, I keep telling the wife get me a bottle of Yeagermister but oh hell no were a alcohol free zone for now, I need to move to callyfornia and get to puffing on that wheelchair charlie :p.....lol....then I wouldn't give 2 sh!ts about stators, capacitors and tecunseh outboards and helping people...it would be all about me ;)
