this motor has been out of service for some time now, there is no spark,i pulled flywheel and the coils and points look like new, although there seems to be some corrosion on condensers and points contacts are a little corroded, this motor is complete , i just cannot figure out why there is no spark........another old engine i am working on (elgin 7.5) had starting problems i pulled flywheel and coils were cracked like crazy but i could still get some spark...i have tinkered on many small engines but this ted williams 7.5 has me scratchin my head, anyone have any thoughts?? can you get condensers and points for this motor??

Your motor is McCulloch built I believe you will find points right here at Iboats. There should also be an impeller listed as well. Most likely if you clean up the points and under the flywheel and adjust to .020.you will have spark.I don't find your number my guess is late 60s.I believe production ended in the early 70s.
If it has been laid up for years you may have to go through the fuel system from tank to carb.

I checked the points available on this website, but they look nothing like the one's on my motor(when you disconnect the condenser and coil wire from from points the spring from points expands, and you have to bend and hold it to put screw back in)does this sound like any points you have seen?? also condenser is different than one's avail. on this site...

I don't have personal experience with these motors there are 2 types of points listed in the Sierra manual (should be same as at Iboats) numbers are 18-5153 and 18-5161.You might try the Scott guy at "ask the scott guy"on the net.
5153 is is squarish with a crescent shape on one edge, the 5161 is roughly a Y shape.Personally ,I think properly cleaned and adjusted points will work unless badly pitted or damaged. The Scott Guy should be able to tell you what will work and if there are any substitutions.

Your motor is McCulloch built. Out of business since the early 70s.
I don't find that model number but 574 is McCulloch5993 is a 68/69..If you clean up the ignition system it may work. There may be some ignition and pump parts available here. Also the Scott Guy on the net may be able to help.
