ted williams 7.5, need help please

hi today i purchased a ted williams 7.5hp motor, guy said the motor would start but not stay running, so when i got it home i changed the spark plug (the one in there was original!) i put fresh mix gas and checked the flow to the carb, and i got it started once ran for a couple of seconds then it shut off could not get it to run again, it has spark... i noticed gas leaking out of an opening down by the prop, i think it is an exhaust vent. Can any one give me advice. my next step would be to take the carb apart and clean it... thanks

I had the same issue..leaked 2 stroke like crazy..My pal checked it out and there is a rubber orange gasket that looks like a tophat, i think its a diagphram that if it is cracked or split will allow gas to pour through & out the leg
