Re: Ted Williams 9.9
Does anyone know how you change the lower end oil on the motor?
On the side of the gearcase, you'll see two LARGE flat head screw heads. These are the drain and fill plus. With the outboard upright, remove both to drain the old oil. Then, use normal outboard lower unit oil in a large squeeze tube. Screw the threads of the squeeze tube in the lower hole. Squeeze until oil starts coming out the top hole. Screw in the upper plug you removed. Unscrew the tube of oil, then screw in the lower plug. Almost none will run out.
You should replace the washer-like gaskets on both drain plugs. They are a standard size you can get at any marine store.
That's all there is to it.
