I have a safe t system from a 2000 Smokercraft that had a 4.3 lx with power steering. It has tilt steering which I want.
The tilt kit seems to be the same one as currently sold.
I also have a safe t system from an older Smokercraft that had a 90hp outboard as well as a good cable. But no tilt

Can I use the outboard cable or other outboard cable on the tilt box? Or can I swap the tilt part on the outboard box?

I will be steering a 125hp Mercury 2 stroke outboard on a 16' flat bottom cabin cruiser.

Ayuh,..... The cables shouldn't care whether it's an outboard, or I/O,.....

Can't say 'bout the helms,.... Compare 'em, side by side,.....

they look identical other than the font in the casting that says do not disassemble. The one from the outboard boat must be slightly older since it says patent pending, but the 2000 smokercraft has a patent number

I now see that the tilt kit will go on any Safe T system. it uses the 3/4" shaft with a u joint and bolts to the 3 bolts that normally mount it.. But I've decided not to use the 125hp, as that would be moderately crazy on this hull. I will just be steering a 20hp Johnson at displacement speeds. Probably just use the newer tilt box.
