howdy..<br /> my teleflex steering cables are bad and i don't know what ones to order... do i need to order a special cable or will any teleflex cable work?

There are three kinds of cables..<br /><br />#1 Rack & pinion cables have a long flat box on the helm end of the cable... Four nuts and bolts attach it to the helm.<br /><br />#2 Rotary (old style).. the cable has a large nut around the cable that attaches the cable the helm..<br /><br />#3 Rotary (new style) Safe-T-quick system that locks into place in the helm, and has a hitch pin to lock the helms internal mechanism.. (no large nut on the helm side of the cable)

If you are close to a moderately large boat store, they will have a teleflex catalog, and with cable in hand, can order the correct cable for you. It just takes the proper ends on the right length. Most times, I've ordered one and had it the next day. It's nice to know that you have an exact replacement. Makes putting it in so much easier.
