Tranny was replaced two years ago by a reputable shop. New heater core and some other stuff in the last year; can't remember what all. Set up with electric brake controller, not that I'd ever need it. 5.0 V8. Wouldn't give them 5 grand of course, but it's kind of intriguing for a daily driver for a few months then work/hunt/fish/camp/tow vehicle thereafter. It would enable me to eliminate my truck payment and sock away some cash. I don't know. Thoughts?

Can't beat a Chevy in my opinion. If the seller has all the receipts for what is done and it runs nice then it is a decent buy. Haggle with the price though and see how serious the seller is.
Just my 2 cents though. We love our Trailblazer.

Re: Tell Me What You Think

I have the same truck but it is a 99 model.
It is a great highway vehicle and tows the boat and my 6k pound camper just fine.
99 was the last year they used the 5.7 engine in them.

Other than replacing the intake manifold gaskets at 95k it has been a great truck.
These trucks do like to go through front brake pads.I switched to ceramic pads and drilled rotors and they are holding up well.
I would try to get the seller down to around 4k....;)

I have the K&N cold air intake kit...(300 bucks) and gutted the cats and had all new high flow exhaust, true duals and larger pipes run on it.
A chip in the computer and what a difference...runs like a scalded cat!

Actually, I think they said new intake manifold gaskets was something else they did.

That does look like a $4K deal to me. I have a 1999 Tahoe with the 5.7 and have pulled horse trailers, campers, and boats with no problem. I live a couple hours south of you, near Hot Springs. Nice to see another Arky on here. How about them Hogs?

Re: Tell Me What You Think

Well, I looked at the truck and it was an unqualified POS. I wasn't expecting too much, but it didn't take long to figure out the seller hadn't been straight with me about the condition of the vehicle even though I asked her specific and pointed questions. I didn't even bother to start it. Comes with the territory I guess. The thing is, it's a 20-30 minute drive from Little Rock, so she'd better start being straight with people or things could get ugly. Not my problem though. Any way, the admiral and the vice admiral (seven year old daughter) are really on board with my plan of buying a future third vehicle now, so we've been doing some looking. I came across this one this morning. Would it be a buy at say 10k-10.5k? http://www.countrysidemotors.cc/?q=node/1 Miles are high for a 2004, but it appears to be cherry. Pretty tempting.

You may look at the Suburbans of the late 90's. Same as the Tahoes but a little more spacious. Same issues with the IMG and fuel pumps though. Not sure what rig you linked to that's an '04. I tow with a '98 Suburban, and am looking to upgrade to a 3/4 at some point for a little mor kick getting up grades and such, but it is mostly a tow rig and for family road trips so the mileage is not the biggest concern.

Sorry about that. It's an Expedition. I thought the link took you to the vehicle, but apparently not.
