I made a video of my 1983 15hp Evinrude running. I published it to YouTube and was wondering if y'all could take a look at it running and let me know if the idle sounds right and also if someone could let me know about the amount of water that I have coming out of the tail tale.I noticed when running the engine that the block gets a little hot. The water from the tell tail feels cool and when I shut down the engine the water from the tell tail get warm to hot as it drains. There is a link below to the video and I will also try to embed it to this page.

pee stream is good, warm is good, super hot is bad. idle is high, check that your throttle plate is closing all the way and the linkages are lined up right and free.

Should the stream stay cold though while running? Only time the pee stream feels warm is when the engine is shut down and draining. Also I have the old style gear mesh tiller control. Has a lot of slack in it. Eventually I am going to take it all apart and shim it with plastic to tighten it up.

Tell tale water is only there to prove the pump is working. The water coming out there has not gone through the block. You should be able to hold your hand on the top of the head for a three count during normal operation. Best of luck. Rick.
