Just finished rebuilding my 1974 4 hp. I noticed that the water jacket runs under one edge of the exhaust cover. Is there any reason to think that I'll starve the engine of water if I were to install a tell tale there? What I mean is, assuming a good water pump, does the water pump in these little engines have enough capacity for a tell tale?

Re: Tell tale, 1974 4 hp

Finished doing the tell tale on my 4 hp. In the first picture you can see the new exhaust plate I made out of 1/4 aluminum stock. I made the brass nipple from a 1/4 inch shoulder bolt, drilling an 1/8 hole in it. You can see where I had to machine the plate to 1/8 inch for the adjustment arm for the rewind. In the second picture you can see the motor's exhaust port and the water jacket that runs along one side. The third picture shows the plate mounted on the motor. The fourth picture shows the routing of the hose. I ran it to the starboard side because when I look back at the motor that's the side I see. All I need now is the nipple that feeds the water through the lower motor case.
