Tell tale on 1968 55hp rude

Does the aforementioned motor have a tell tale? when hooked up to the muffs it doesn't shoot water out of the 2 holes on the back about halfway up but it does shoot out of a small notch where the lower unit seem is, the head stays cool I just don't see a stream going to pull the lower unit and check the impeller and water tubes for damage, but anyway the question is this motor should have 2 streams right?

It didn't have a tell tale. What you should do is check your water pump,tubes and ect. Then take it to the water and run the heck out of it. After it warms up you should see water coming out of those upper holes on the back if the water flow is okay in the p/h it self. Meaning theromostat working properly.
