Folks are posting "what's it worth" threads that really can't be discussed intelligently without some knowledge of where the item is being bought or sold. Not only that, it's just nice to know where you are on God's beautiful planet.

I 2nd the motion. Go to User CP at top left, under 'your profile" click on "edit details" go to the bottom and enter the state you live in at least....

Does anybody ever set up a kind of Google map or something like that where everybody here on iboats could register his location? Seems a neat idea, no?

You need a Google account to be able to add your own location to the map. After you login, you click on ?Edit? in the top left corner then on the ?Add a placemark? icon on the map (it look like an inverted blue drop). You put it where you live then add your iboats forum usermane in the title field and anything you want in the description field (comments, photos, video, etc.) and you clik ?Done?.

If it turn out to be popular, it could even worth a sticky, who knows!

Um, I think the intent of the post was to get folks to put their location in the top left corner of the post by putting it in the profile, not for a survey.

For some posts, that might not be enough--like I don;t know where "apple valley CA" is, but it doesn't matter. If a post needs the poster's location to make sense, or give better information, it should be mentioned. Along the same lines, "Lake boater" "Offshore" "inshore" "big river" Salt water fresh water, frigid north or sunny south, city rural--that info may be important in a particular post.
