Re: Telltale temperature

Water from the tell tale should be approx the same temp as the source, as the tell tale is plumbed in pre-engine water flow.

Re: Telltale temperature

Hi, Roly.

Some engines have the telltale at the input to the cooling flow. Those telltales will be at lake water temp, as Pro Crappie Guide says.

Other engines have the telltale at the outlet of the cooling flow. Those telltales will get hot.

So, it depends on what engine you have, of which you have told us nothing. :)

Re: Telltale temperature

Cheers Guys.
Yamaha 80Hp 1989. & I'm told it is pre-plumbed so
I guess its ok to be same as source.
The hi-temp alarm went off at sustained 5k revs so
I guess a new thermostat/impellor kit would be advisable.
I am looking at buying the motor and this appeared at sea trial. The compressions were 130,128,130,; so seems pretty tight.
Thanks,
Roly
