temp guage

My temp guage does not work any tips on trackind down why?

With the ignition switch on, make sure you have power to the purple wire, and good ground (Black wire) if those 2 are ok, at the sender on the engine remove the wire from the sender and hold to a good ground. With the switch in the run position and the sender wire grounded, the gauge should peg full hot.<br />If it doesn't, the gauge or the wire from the sender to the gauge is bad. If it does peg, replace the sender.

So take the purple wire and ground it out to the ground to check?

NO! The purple is the key-on power wire!Don S means to ground the sender wire at the engine,knott at the gauge!

so there is only one wire at the sender? And jump that wire to a ground? Thanks. Haven't got a chance to get in there and check it out
