Temp. sending units

I have a 1980 115 hp evinrude, model tlcsa. There is no temp. sending unit on it, or is there is a place to install one. I know someone makes one that surface mounts, but i have not been able to locate one. If someone out there can help me with this i would certainly appreciate it. THANKS!

I got a cylinder head temperature gauge together with a sensor that bolts on to the head at Jamestown Distributors. Works good, get rapid response to cooling issues (althought not as good as a water temp. gauge would be).

would you happen to have a black guage with white markings?

It is about half way down on the list of instruments.
