Just wondering if anyone gets any value from having (and paying extra for)a temperature sensor on a fish finder.

Since they are only reading surface temps, are they not much help if fishing thermoclines?

Any thoughts welcome.

I agree. While they may not be totally useless, I'd say pretty close to it!

The temp sensor is most useful when the temps are marginal......The temps near shore may be too cool for the fish but out a few miles, the water may be warmer....

Most useful in the springtime when waters have not warmed.....no baitfish and no fish....A few miles farther out......baitfish then fish....
