Anyone know where I can purchase temp sensors for a 100 hp Evinrude 1990 ? Have replaced t-stats twice and pump once in past year. Alarm will sound after about 5 minutes. If you shut it down and let it sit for about 10 minutes and re start its fine. It only seems to do this if it sits for a week or more without running it.

Re: Temp sensors

I doubt that temp senders will help. Most likely, the air bleed hole in the plastic housing is plugged and the water cannot drain out. The thermostats corroded slightly and stick. When the motor overheats, then starts to cool down, the "ram" on the thermostat frees up and works normally.

Did you use the factory stainless steel thermostats, or brass aftermarket ones?

Re: Temp sensors

I think they are the after market ones. My first guess was sticky tstat. I imagine they do not open correctly if they stick even slightly which probably allows enough heat to build to set off alarm.
It seems to drain ok. If I take off hoses going to tstat housing there is no water laying in there.
Greatly appreciate your response.
:D
