Re: Temper Pedic Mattress

I just went to Tempur-Pedic's website.
I would love one, but I saw the one I wanted went for $8200.

They're pretty proud of their foam.

I wanted to add to this post as I have been house-sitting where they have the foam-pad, on-top of a Sleep-Number. I don't feel this pad helped enough for me to become the next foam-matress salesman. It's a different comfort feeling but it wasn't "uncomfortable". The biggest downfall is the HEAT. That pad makes the bed REALLY heat up, and I sleep with a fan as it is. We were contemplating getting a foam topper but after sleeping on this one, I would rather sleep through the night than wake up sweating.

We have had a TP for about 6 years now and I love it. When we bought ours she was working at a furniture store and was able to purchase it at cost. So we lucked out there. Yes they are on the expensive side but after having one I would pay for another one. If you think about how long you will have it and divide out the cost it doesnt hurt so bad. Ok ya it does but still worth it.

Here's a suggestion for you. There are hotels which have them. I've seen several advertized over the last couple years. Do a little research in your area. It will cost you a night at a hotel to try the Tempur-Pedic. If you have a bedding or furniture store near you which sells them, there's no shipping, just bring it back if you don't like it. There's no catch to the guarantee. If you can find a place online that ships free and has free returns, then you can probably get a better price than a local store will offer.

There are lots of brands of memory foam you can get these days. MOST are very cheap and made in CHINA buyer beware. Lots of them stink. Lots are very hot. The good stuff is very heavy, very expensive and very comfortable. Sleep number beds are a joke! Go to your average outdoors store and get a air mattress,or 2 and put them together, then get a foamy and throw it on top.Next go get a compressor for your air mattress,or get the expensive one with the compressor built in. You have just built a sleep number mattress for a couple of hundred bucks. Don't forget to count the seconds you are running the compressor or it's not really a sleep number. Good luck trying to find a salesman that really knows what's going on and will truly help you. Better to do your research on the net like you are doing.Buy one from a store that has a comfort gaurantee,no questions asked. A few minutes in a store flopping around on a matt is not the same as taking it home for a couple of weeks to try it out. oops! knows his stuff when it comes to matts. We sold tons of all kinds of matts when he had his store.

Re: Temper Pedic Mattress

I deal with back pain on the regular, from getting hit by a car back in 02. Due to my job i can not take any pain meds, so the wife and I got a foam topper for our new mattres, as everyone has stated it got hot! So we got a mattres cover(? one of those things that look like a really thing pad) to go between the foam and the sheets. It made all the difference. It has not done miricles but it has made a difference most nights on my back.

We picked it up from the local Walls bargain center for around 40 dollars.

Re: Temper Pedic Mattress

We have had a TempurPedic mattress for 6 years now. Sure we paid alot for it. BUT, it did the trick. Had a herniated disk and slept on a foam topper. It was okay for the most part. However, I did leave an impression on myside o the bed...

Tried the 90 day free trial back in 05 and haven't looked back. We have a california king and it is AWSOME!!! :D

When I traveled for mywork, I stayed in upper end hotels. Nothing, but NOTHING beats my TP for rest and a decent nights sleep. I am even contemplating on getting the RV version.

Just would'n't buy anyting else. It is holding up fine... we paid 4800 for ours...

Best nights sleep ever... Oh and by the way. Only downside is.... Its a $%&(! to move!!! HEAVY and awkward...

Best of luck!!

Re: Temper Pedic Mattress

I have heard Temper Pedic mattresses are awesome. No firsthand experience though.

My wife had a lumbar lamenectomy (sp) about 12 years ago and never slept more than 4-5 hours a night. About 3 years ago we went to Denver Mattress Co and bought a "doctors choice" mattress from them. Good thing about this mattress is no pillowtop or mattress pad. This is important because the bed can be turned over, flipped, etc as you wear on it, reducing breakdown of the bed. Denver told us to flip every 6 months. The bed has been fantastic for my wifes back. There has been virtually no pain since we purchased this bed. Best part is the price, its much less than the Temper.

The only downside to our mattress is you NEVER want to get up, its just so perfect.
