Temperature sender confusion

Hello again

Im trying to install a temp gauge but when I looked , both cylinder heads have a sender or sensor.

The alarm in the remote box works fine just got a new temp gauge and need to find the sender, then hook it up to a gauge.

The above pic is hooked up to this area by the stater solenoid.

This one as you can see isnt hooked up to anything, I found it taped off.


Im confused to which one I should hook up the gauge to.

Hmmmmm.... I can't say I'm positive, but generally speaking mercury's default wiring schemes would say the solid tan wire is the sender for the temperature guage.

Thanks mrallen007 got the gauge in and a line going back to motor, just gotta wait for powerhead install to hook all the lines back up. If I get no reading its gotta be the sender.
