Geetings, happy 4th July to all. I am replacing all the wood on my 18.5 Alumicraft open bow seating, livewell ,storage area. All old wood was rotted. How can I form a template to conform to the curves on sides towards the bow. It starts about 6ft. & ends at bow, overall about 1.5 ft. width and about 5 ft fore & aft.Help appreciated. Dave

Re: template for open bow

hi....welcome to iboats....

the template you ask for only exists at the factory....lol

what you do is take basic measurements......cut your rough peice of wood.....and thru fitting and re fitting....get it right......i take my stuff in side the boat....and using a grinder with 26 grit.....i grind it down till it fits.
the excess....is filled with peanut butter and glass.......but being you working on a tinny,,,,you might choose different materials

Re: template for open bow

Although more expensive than cardboard, construction sheet foam also works well for templating.

Thanks for idea, I like that due to staying in place and forming it. Dave

you can also go to an appliance store and get a refrigerator box. That will be more cardboard that you will need, but some extra is nice for the other projects.
