Ok, thans....Yes, I can tell via some pics off a website it is a genII for sure. So, as long as he looks at genII's with that gear ratio he should be good?

We're going to seperate the lower and upper this week to see what is bound, and go from there.

On your transom assembly (or gimbal housing) - it sounds like you have already checked the main things that can go bad on them. As long as it doesn't have excessive play in the pivot areas or excessive corrosion you should be fine with new bearing and bellows. See if you can find out why they said he needed a new one. The only other thing to check is the lip where the bellows attaches. It can corrode away if water gets inside the bellows. Make sure that area is in good shape - then you are good to go!
